Course Overview
This City & Guilds Assured course will enable you to gain the knowledge required to carry out the role of Competent or Skilled Person (Mechanical) and can assist in demonstrating a full understanding of company safety rules and procedures during formal assessment. Many organisations have adopted JSP 375 Volume 3 Chapter 4 (or parts thereof) as the basis for a Safe System of Work as applied to mechanical systems. For practicable commonality this course is based on the content of this document together with HSG 253 Safe Isolation of Equipment.

This course is NOT suitable for those persons intending to carry out examinations and inspections in accordance with regulations 8,9 & 10 (written scheme of examination) of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000
Who is This Course For?
This is aimed at mechanical staff with responsibility for the operation or maintenance of installed mechanical plant and who may be nominated as a Competent or Skilled Person within their organisation.

Andy is a Mechanical Training Manager with over 36 years experience in the Mechanical Industry. He is a qualified mechanical engineer, and has worked within various Mechanical roles spanning over 23 years. Andy also has 13 years experience as a training consultant / assessor / internal verifier of which he is responsible for delivery, quality and course development across the following areas: Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, Handling of F-Gas substances as well as electrical / mechanical safe systems of work course areas. Andy also undertakes Legionella Management and Awareness training and has experience across various other disciplines such as Electrical Low Voltage and Electrical Installations and Renewable Technologies (Thermodynamics and Solar PV). Further to this Andy has also delivered training events overseas in Cyprus, Kenya, Belize, Qatar and Afghanistan.

Senior Mechanical/Ventilation Training Consultant

Malcolm is a highly-qualified Mechanical and Electrical engineer who has worked for several organisations, within both the public and private sectors in UK and overseas. He first became involved with training and assessment during his time while in government service with the Property Services Agency at RTTC Cardington and has enjoyed working in these specialist fields during his subsequent career. Malcolm has considerable experience in air conditioning and ventilation systems and has recently been delivering the specialist ventilation courses for the NHS authorising personnel courses. Malcolm is based at our head office and training centre in York.
