Course Overview
This course will provide delegates with an overview and understanding of how to control the risk from legionella bacteria within an evaporative cooling tower system. It will enable effective monitoring of the water system in accordance with HSG274 part 1.
Who is This Course For?
The course is designed for engineers / technicians who need an understanding of how legionella bacteria may proliferate within their evaporative cooling towers and the monitoring requirements needed to control.

  • Log Sheets and Log Books
  • Written Course Assessment
  • Medical aspects of legionnaires disease, including how the bacteria proliferates and who are the susceptible people to the illness.
  • Relevant statutory and non-statute guidance documents.
  • The requirements of Approved Code of Practice L8 to ensure compliance.
  • Requirements of cleaning and disinfection of cooling towers
  • Monitoring checks to ensure effective water treatment programme
  • Monitoring requirements including temperature checking, inspections water sampling and actions in the event of positive count.
  • Requirements of compiling and maintaining the water management log book.
