Course Overview
This City & Guilds course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to undertake refrigerant recovery from stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment to meet Category III theoretical and practical requirements.

This course is designed for those working within the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry who need to meet the legal requirements for working with fluorinated gases, and other ozone depleting substances.

Q: What is the difference between F-Gas Category 1, 2, 3 & 4?
A:
  • F-Gas Category 1 covers the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leakage checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment with a charge more than 3kg or 6kg (if hermetically sealed).
  • F-Gas Category 2 covers equipment with a charge of less than 3kg (6kg if hermetically sealed).
  • F-Gas Category 3 covers refrigerant recovery from stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment.
  • F-Gas Category 4 covers leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment.
Q: Does the F-gas qualification expire?
A: Because our courses are City & Guilds 2079 they do not expire and therefore do not require a refresher course
Q: What does F-Gas stand for?
A: F-Gas stands for Fluorinated Gases.
Q: What types of F-Gases are there?
A: There are four types of F-Gases (Fluorinated Gases) including hydrofluorocarbons(HFCs) perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3).
