An Interview With Richard Parker-Wood

Health Estate Journal – January 2023

Notice

Due to the age of this post some of the information maybe out of date.

In the January issue of the Health Estate Journal (HEJ), our Senior Fire Safety Training Consultant, Richard Parker-Wood sits down with Editor Jonathan Baillie to discuss his career, our training and what is on the horizon for the fire safety sector as a whole.

In the feature titled 'Fire Safety Courses Add to Growing Training Portfolio' (page 32) Jonathan details his experience as a visitor to our 'Effective Management of Fire Safety' conference and exhibition, before jumping into his summation of our training model. The piece then explores the competencies and career highlights of our very own Richard Parker-Wood, as well as dropping in insight from our Managing Director Gary Cooper.

Across 5 pages, the editorial piece features more than 10 different images of our training facilities in York, and discusses future plans (now in action) to bring the same level of training and practical learning capabilities to our Slough Campus.

With the Grenfell Tower fire and subsequent enquiry in mind, the conversation moved to guidance and legislation, with Richard offering insight to the requirements of the most recent Building Safety Act. This has been followed up more recently with the Fire Safety England Regulations 2022, requirements of which as they pertain to; Fire Doors, Fire and Smoke Dampers and Fire Stopping, are reflected in our own training course programme.

For more information, and to read the piece in its entirety, you can view January 2023's HEJ online or free, below:
