Many of the delegates who have recently visited and trained in our new facility, 103 Buckingham Avenue (Part of our Slough Campus), will attest to the fantastic work completed by our Facilities Manager and Maintenance team.
And they are just getting started!
With works still to complete, our team have and will continue to be supported by our trusted industry partners - Air Projects, Golden Thread Fire Delay, STJ Projects and Eaton Electrical Systems - as the investment and successes of our Fire Safety training facility in York, are replicated in Slough.
Currently installed are a variety of ventilation ducts with different types of fire and smoke damper. These are situated within the walls and in the lowered ceiling of our mock fire corridor.
This particular space will demonstrate the challenges of conducting survey and inspection duties in real-world environments. This corridor, as it does in York, will replicate spaces within an industrial warehouse, a commercial office building, and one typically found across healthcare estates.
Each section of the corridor will contain known faults, which will be used to aid in the teaching of our Fire Door Survey and Inspection, Fire Stopping Survey and Inspection and Fire and Smoke Damper Survey and Inspection courses. All of which are City & Guilds Accredited.
In addition to this corridor, further examples of fire and smoke dampers and fire stopping installations will be shown in breeze block and stud wall constructions, for the purpose of clarity and demonstrating the basics of fire damper drop tests and fire stopping assessments.
To maintain the integrity of the compartmentation there will be a selection of 60 and 30 minute fire doors. These fire engineered safety solutions will be used to demonstrate proper and improper installation and maintenance, again, with known faults for the purpose of enriching the delegate learning experience.
Above each door and in key positions throughout our practical area will be an adaptive lighting system, used to demonstrate the latest advancements in emergency/escape lighting fittings. Supplied by Eaton Electrical Systems, this system will interact with our fire detection and alarm system to intuitively guide delegates out of the mock fire corridor to safety in our test scenario. A demonstration and technical breakdown of key elements of this, are part of our Fire Alarms and Detection Systems (Commercial) and Escape Lighting courses.
To cap off the practical area, an operational fire curtain will be installed, to demonstrate different methods of fire compartmentation, while cross sections of 30 minute and 60 minute fire doors will be available to further increase delegate understanding of the construction and make up of different fire doors.
Visitors to our 'Effective Management of Fire Safety' conference and exhibition, taking place on Wednesday, 29th and Thursday, 30th March, will be the first individuals to get a glimpse of the completed facility, with the schedule on both days allowing for guided tours of the area by our Senior Fire Safety Training Consultant, Richard Parker-Wood and our Managing Director, Gary Cooper.
This event will serve as an official launch of our full Fire Safety training offering in Slough.
Each of our established City & Guilds Accredited Fire Safety Management and Technical Awareness courses will be available, see full listing below:
