Jonathan Eland, our Sales Director, highlights the best bits from PPL Training's 2024, a year featuring new ownership, additions to our course offering, and strategic partnerships.
As we reflect on the year just gone, and look forward to another promising year, it was hard to narrow down just a few things to highlight. However, there has been some great work carried out by our teams throughout the year, not only in the classroom but behind the scenes as well, as we prepare for an even bigger 2025.
PPL Training's Highlights of 2024
Acquisition by Apave
Anybody who has followed, or been part of our journey from 2013 will know that James Booth’s exit was a huge moment. James' vision took us to where we are today, but the sale of the company marked a new chapter as Apave, a group with €1.2B in turnover and 150+ years of expertise, embraced us to extend its presence in the UK, adding our locations in York, Slough, and Livingston to their training division. Further strengthening their specialisms in risk management, including technical, environmental, human and digital risks.
"The acquisition of PPL Training by the Apave Group will enable us to accelerate our ambition to support our customers in making their own transitions a success, while continuing to focus on our core business: risk management. I would like to extend a warm welcome to the PPL Training teams!"
Philippe MAILLARD | CEO of The Apave Group

We've been crunching the numbers and are happy to report that our course delivery has soared by 43% since 2022, reaching over 13,500 courses in-centre and online, with even more cohorts taught on-site. Over the course of 2024 over 9,000 delegates attended our centres, 82% underwent City & Guilds Assured courses, meaning we gave over 7,000 delegates the opportunity to earn their own Digital Credential.
What's New
We’ve brought 5 brand new training courses to market this year, these are:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Amendment 3 - Update
- Water Sampling for Legionella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and TVCs
- Electrical Inspection and Testing Refresher/Awareness

Strategic Collaborations
Over the years, we have formed relationships with a few likeminded businesses. These have allowed us to expand our course offerings once again in 2024. Our partners helped us to bring to market, Safe Systems of Work and Technical training for:
What's more, this year we secured additional 3rd party accreditation for our Fire Safety training courses, becoming an Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) Approved Centre, and now providing IFSM Accredited certification on all Fire Safety courses.
On The Road
This year we have attended 9 conferences that highlight the needs of our client base. From Healthcare to Universities, Electrical Safety to Legionella Control, we have enjoyed connecting and reconnecting with so many of you.
A particular highlight of our time on the road this year has to be the Global Electrical Safety Conference, organised by Skanwear.
We also closed out the year with a very well received half-day CPD session for the Institute of Workplace & Facilities Managers (IWFM), covering Facilities Management Technical Awareness for their members in Livingston.
That's a Wrap!
2024 is now in the rear-view mirror, and after an outstanding year we anticipate further achievements. Thank you, our clients and followers, for your continued support. We wish you a very happy new year, and hope that 2025 brings you personal and professional success.
