IHEEM Wales at ICC Newport – We’ll Be There!

We have once again booked our place at the IHEEM Wales Regional Conference, which is this year being held at the ICC, Newport Wales. Part of the Celtic Manor Resort.

On Tuesday, 28th and Wednesday, 29th May 2024, 100s of the UKs Healthcare Engineering and Estates Management professionals will visit exhibition stands, attend conference sessions and awards ceremonies in support of IHEEM and the work they do for the Healthcare sector.

The Conference Programme

As per the institute's website, the conference programme is described as:

"The Conference, titled ‘Back to the Future’, looks at lessons learnt from the past to deliver the healthcare estate of the future, builds on the issues from the 2023 conference, and focuses on the following three streams:

1. Workforce Development
2. Structure and Architecture
3. Shared Resources

The programme looks to address the following challenges:

• Workforce competency with a pilot from decontamination NHS Wales
• Making our infrastructure compliant and resilient with appropriate governance
• Modern material and construction methods using Building Information Modelling (BIM)
• Investing to create the workforce of tomorrow, creating an accreditation framework to provide assurance of professional standards throughout their careers
• Future workforce delivery, including training the next generation with an open floor discussion on governance around Competent and Authorised Persons
• A1 and GB Chat"

Supporting National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day

National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day is being celebrated on Wednesday, 19th June 2024.

In the run up to this day, described as a celebration of "the UK’s Healthcare Estates & Facilities heroes", we will be giving you the opportunity to do just that.

In the spirit of Awards season, we will be gathering nominations of our own for the somewhat 'unsung' heroes of the UK's Healthcare Estates and Facilities teams.

We want you to tell us:

1. Who deserves to be highlighted?
2. What do they do that's great?

These nominations can range from an Authorised Person who goes above and beyond to ensure safe working practices are adhered to... To your Learning and Development Officer for their contributions to your career development... To your Domestic services staff member who ensures that your wards and communal areas are kept neat, tidy and infection free.

Or, anyone in between!

As a thank you for contributing to our own awards, we will plant a tree on UK soil and add it to our growing forest.

We will then select 5 lucky winners who will each receive vouchers worth £50 to spend with The British Heart Foundation.

These can be spent at any British Heart Foundation store online or in person.
