Second High Voltage Ring Installed in York

We are delighted to unveil our second High Voltage practical facility at our head office and training centre in York.

This new facility is home to an additional High Voltage ring (PPL York North High Voltage Ring) and comprises of different types and ages of equipment which are all fully functional for training and fault finding purposes.

The High Voltage ring is controlled and supervised by a PPL designed control panel, and further to this, we also provide the Mimic which again is PPL designed, this is in the form of a large touchscreen which enables manual updating of the ring. The substation at our centre York contains the equipment expected, such as tripping batteries, safety and guidance posters and the required PPE.

The extra working ring will support us in meeting the increasing customer demand while offering an alternative range of working switch-gear and systems for our delegates.

Successful Installation and Commissioning

The installation and commissioning of the ring went according to plan, largely thanks to the efforts of the whole team, including Training and Maintenance staff as well as PPL Digital and the progressive backing of senior management. There has been a significant investment to provide this extra training resource at the York centre and it will be replicated at our southern centre in Slough within the next few months.
